Similar to the standard objects, user can send bulk SMS from the desired custom object.
For this user can follow below steps:
1. Click the Bulk SMS tab from the main navigation.
2. Select the custom object from the Select Object drop down and the select the List View from the Select List View drop down as shown:
3. Once done, the available records will be displayed in corresponding tab as shown above.
4. Now for sending the SMS, user need to select the desired record by selecting the check box and then click the 'Send Bulk SMS' button.
5. User will be redirected to the next page showing the selected number under Message To field, the number which was saved on the SMS Config. page under Message From drop down and the user need to type the message under the provided message field.
6. Once done, click the Send button, confirmation message will be displayed as the bulk SMS to all selected numbers is sent.
In case the the custom object is not already available, user can follow below steps t create custom object
1. Click Setup link on top of the page once logged in.
2. Type 'objects' in the quick search box visible on the left top of the page.
3. Click 'New Custom Object' button as visible.
4. Enter the desired custom object name and feel other details as shown:
Click Save button once done so that these settings are saved.
Now the custom object is created, next step is to create it's tab so that it will be readily visible on the main navigation.
Creating a custom tab:
1. Again on the quick search field, click 'tabs' and then click 'Tabs' under results.
2. Under Custom Tabs click New button.
3. Select the above created tab name, select desired tab style, enter any description if required and then click Next.
4. Keep Default On option and click Next.
5. Click Save on the next page displayed keeping settings as they are.
6. Check that newly created tab will be visible for the said custom object as shown below.
Now refresh the same page and check that the above created custom object is now visible as a tab on the main navigation as shown.
This is how the tab is created for the custom object.
Adding custom fields on the custom tab:
A. Adding the Phone field:
Now once the custom tab is created, user need to add some required custom field on to that tab in below way:
1. On the same custom tabs page, scroll down to the 'Custom Fields & Relationships' section and click New button.
2. Scroll down to the 'Phone' field on the Step 1 page and select the associated radio button.
3. Enter details as shown and then click Next button.
4. Verify all details as displayed on the Step 4 page then click Save button once done. Else click Previous button to update.
The Phone field is now added, user later need to add this to the page layout in order get it working.
A. Adding the SMS Opt Out field:
Similar to the Phone field, user need to add the SMS Opt Out field.
1. For this, again click the New button under 'Custom Fields & Relationships' section.
2. Scroll down and select the radio button displayed against Checkbox field then click Next.
3. Enter required details as shown then click Next.
4. Select the check boxes as shown then click Next.
5. Once done, click the Save button on the Step 4 page.
The SMS Opt Out field is now added which user later need to add t the page layout.
Once above fields are added the custom object page should like below:
C. Adding fields on the page layout:
Once the user had added above custom fields, now the are required to be added on to the page layout to get them working.
1. For this click the above newly added custom tab from the main navigation.
2. Once on the page, click New button.
3. Enter all required details as shown and then click Save.
4. Similarly few more records as required.
5. Now in order to send the bulk SMS using above created custom object (i.e. Test Custom Objects), user need to use the existing list view (All) or create a new one as required.
For creating new list view user can follow below steps:
a. Click the desired custom object where the list view is to be created (i.e. Test Custom Objects) then click Create New View link.
b. Enter desired name in the View Name field.
c. Scroll down to the Step 3 and move fields from Available Fields to Selected Fields section as shown:
d. Select Visible To All Users option.
Click Save once done, the list is now ready to use.
e. Now click Bulk SMS tab on the main navigation and select Test Custom Object under the Objects drop down, check that the newly created list is visible under the List View drop down.
f. Select that newly created list (New List) and check that all records/numbers under it are now visible to send bulk SMS.
This is how custom tab, custom fields, list view are created and used to send the bulk SMS.
